Document Freedom Day on March 26th 2008!

The Document Freedom Day (DFD) is the global day for document liberation. As explained in the Family Guide to Digital Freedom, a lot of your life is already digital or digitally managed. The Document Freedom Day (DFD) will be a day when, all over the world, local organizations will explain to all citizens how much open digital standards are essential in order to:

  • choose any operating system or application and still be able to read all their old documents perfectly (remember how much we really pay for software!)
  • collaborate with others regardless of which software they are using
  • use any software of your choice to interact with their government.
  • reduce government spending thanks by making them use software that avoids the cost of lock-in
